Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is defined as irreversible and long-lasting impairment of kidney function. Medical management for end-stage CKD patients is hemodialysis. In hemodialysis there is an ultrafiltration process which is the withdrawal of the patient's body fluids which cannot be wasted due to decreased kidney function. The amount of ultrafiltration is determined based on changes in Interdialytic Weight Gain (IDWG). IDWG is an increase in fluid volume that is manifested by an increase in body weight to determine the amount of fluid entering during the interdialitic period. Increased
fluid volume must be limited because if excess can cause edema, spasms, and even
decreased consciousness. Therefore, family support and patient motivation are needed to
control changes in IDWG. The purpose of this study is to prove the relationship between
family support and motivation of patients with changes in IDWG in CKD patients
undergoing hemodialysis therapy in Bangil General Hospital. The design of this study is
correlational analysis with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used
purposive sampling technique with a sample of 40 CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis
therapy at Bangil General Hospital. Retrieval of data using a questionnaire. Data analysis
using multiple logistic regression statistical test shows the significance value in a row of
variables of family support and patient motivation of 0.004, and 0.000 which is smaller than alpha (0.05), so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship of family support and motivation of patients with changes IDWG of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy. For further research, it is expected that it can show which factors influence the occurrence of changes in IDWG.
